In Memoriam

In loving memory of Leo Maher M.D.

Dr. Leo Maher was an independent comprehensive neurologist for over 30 years, mostly in Honolulu, Hawaii. However, Dr. Maher touched so many lives here in San Diego as well. He graduated with a BS in Biology at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 1979. He then continued to get his medical degree from Wayne State University. He completed his Residency and Internship at the Wayne State School of Medicine at Harper Hospital & Detroit Receiving Hospital. Later, Dr. Maher received his Masters in Health Administration and Preventative Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His expertise was in multiple sclerosis, dementia, headache and other neurological conditions. Dr. Leo Maher will be remembered for introducing TPA, Botox and DBS to Hawaii. Dr. Maher was an elected fellow of AAN. He was also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Michigan State. His wisdom, kindness and dedication will never be forgotten and dearly missed.
